Mentorship
Our mentorship provides young people with mentors who can develop an emotional bond with the mentee, have greater experience than the mentee, and provide support, guidance, and opportunities to help young people succeed in life and meet their goals. Our mentorship programme also encourages our young people to express themselves through the performing arts programme which offers the mentees the opportunity to explore their talents and their creativity. We offer creative writings, Poetry, Dance, Music, drawing and acting. These programme also assist our mentees to learning to socialize and express themselves. We also have partnerships that assist us to expose our mentees to the professional world of the arts.
Community Development
The objective of this programme is to engage our mentees to think positively, make informed choices and assist them in visualizing the bigger picture out of the stigma and stereotype of what they are exposed too. We do life skills sessions and awareness campaigns on HIV/Aids, Sexual health, Depression, Substance abuse and teenage pregnancy. Our chat rooms encourages our mentees to discuss pressing issues using drama, debate, walk and talk and poetry sessions.
Our sessions are very interesting, these programmes are led by our mentees with the guidance of their programme directors and experts. We allow our mentees to discuss social issues that affect them and that they are faced with. We encourage communication and engagements, this enables our mentees to express themselves and to think about certain issues that are discussed which may change their personal views and opinions.
The participants really enjoy how all mentees are able to communicate and engage on a debate, learn from each other, and how they conduct a session on a topic they are passionate about either personal or social. These kinds of sessions are very influential to our mentees as it allows them to learn from each other and encourages them to make a difference in their community as well as being role models to their younger peers.
Youth Grooming
Our biggest challenges in South Africa is the high risk of unemployment among young people and school leavers. Our mentees are encouraged to be economically active by being encouraged to start their small businesses.
We have entrepreneurial training and workshops where we invite institutions and leading entrepreneurs to conduct sessions with our mentees. This also encourages them to be financially savvy and self-sufficient.
Competitions are also done amongst the different small businesses that are formed. Our mentees learn how to identify a need within their communities and satisfy the need while making money out of it.
